Pivotal moments
The end of a weird year has brought up lots of memories. I took a trip down memory lane and uncovered the video that got me interested in breakdancing when I was 13. You can check it out here, it’s funky fresh. (I was never that good, but I could bust a move or two). Looking back, these pivotal moments happened a lot — although I seldom realized it at the time.
Watching Inuyasha every Sunday night as a kid planted the seed of Japan in my head, a country I decided to move to years later.
The book GTD by David Allen drove me to do a 2-day brain dump of all my goals and unfinished tasks, which altered the direction of my career.
The Vice documentary The Superhuman World of Wim Hoff: The Ice Man, kick started my journey into cold baths and holotropic breathing, a practice I still continue.
The book The 4-Hour Work Week inspired me to quit my job and travel, and helped me internalize concepts like the maker’s vs. manager’s schedule.
More recently, the book Principles helped me take a step back and shift my thinking from yearly to 5, 10, and 20+ year time-frames.
FYI here’s a list of books that have influenced my thinking in the last few years.
What was the pivotal video, book, song, person or event that caused you to shift your course?
