In this meditation we’ll explore the power of not knowing, also called Don’t Know Mind.
Resting in "not knowing" is about embracing the uncertainty and openness of life. In a world where we're often pressured to have all the answers, this practice invites us to release that need for certainty.
Alan Watts called this the wisdom of insecurity, being okay with life's uncertainty and inevitable change. He says:
“When you swim, you don't grab hold of the water, because if you do you will sink and drown. Instead, you relax and float." - Alan Watts
There’s of course a certain amount of effort that we need to take in life. You don’t just sit there and do nothing.
But once the ball is rolling, once we’re in the water, we need to allow for a sort of trust or faith in the process to unfold, letting go of outcomes and finding happiness in the journey.
"Not-knowing is the most intimate kind of knowing. It means we can meet each moment fresh and new without the burden of our preconceived notions and biases." — Jocko Beck
