We have about 40,000 thoughts a day. Most of these thoughts aren’t particularly useful.
It’s possible to drastically reduce this number.
The way to do this isn’t to try and “stop your thoughts” or push them away. That just creates more resistance and more thoughts.
Rather, you acknowledge your thoughts as thoughts. You allow them to be there, with a little bit of space. Without indulging in them or getting stuck in a story line.
That requires shining a light of awareness on the thinking process, and then shifting your attention back to your body.
Your mind will be thinking until you die. However, it is possible to train your mind to have less thoughts.
Over time, your mind starts to understand, over time, bit by bit, that you are no longer going to play its game.
There’s a new boss in town.
